Urban ARTifact - Mirror

As well as my paintings, these Urban ARTifact creations were featured on 9News here in Denver on May 12th, 2009.
Made withitems I generally find on the streets of all different cities across the country.
On layovers, I'll usually walk most everywhere and when I find a little piece 'o' something on the street I'll pocket it and bring it home...this 'litter' is transformed into these really interesting pieces...some large (like this one) some smaller.

Pena Overpass 2

This is the second of a pair of paintings depicting the same overpass from different angles.
I get off the freeway and drive under it everytime I go to work. many times, the starkness and shadows of this overpass on a clear blue day have struck me.
Pena Overpass 2 is in the collection of Justin Eddings

Transcon 1

Denver skies are full of contrails. jets criss-crossing the country seem to converge over this spot. I always think there is something beautifully common about these sights. They are amazing contrasts between absolute nature and the man-made world.

This large-scale piece was painted on spackle-covered plywood giving it a great stone-like texture.

It is in the collection of Dan and Sue Ann Lass

Ohio, Broadway and Lincoln

Stopped at this intersection, waiting for the light, I suddenly saw the fantastic geometry of this urban corner in Denver's Baker District.
This is a great, small painting at 8x10.

Blue Can

This little scene is straight out of a parking lot at a White castle burger place in Indianapolis. I walked right passed it, then took a second look and snapped a shot of it to paint later.
I loved the extreme ordinariness of this bright blue plastic trash can with the white liner hanging out.
You can find this one on the walls of Illegal Grounds in Denver's Uptown district.

Parking Lot Behind Holiday Inn - Fresno

Whenever we'd layover in fabulous Fresno, I'd always leave the hotel out the side door...it was just easier and less paparazzi.
This geometric scene is what greeted me each time.
Squares and circles with free and wild arms of that Hollywood Juniper in the background.
Currently showing at Il Posto Italian restaurant on 17th near Race street in Denver.

Interstate 80 - Eastern Oregon

Just another beautiful freeway overpass.
This is on display at Illegal Grounds on 17th Street in Denver's Uptown neighborhood.

Big Tex - Phoenix AZ

This one is titled "Big Tex" even though its a scene in Phoenix. The small yellow sign had the faded words "big tex' printed on it.
It was about 530 in the afternoon, in the summer, and I loved the way the yellow building blazed against the dusky surroundings.
Currently on display at Illegal Grounds on 17th Street in Denver's Uptown neighborhood.
